According to the 2017 "Maintenance in China" survey, 94% of respondents pay more attention to maintenance, yet 54% of the maintenance teams have never been trained on maintenance management and methodologies. 71% of those who did only received internal training by their colleagues. Who, then, develop and implements the maintenance strategy? 80% announced plans to use online training, but in practice very few did so… Most maintenance managers we talked to do not even realize that they can benefit from corporate training budget. They also lack of time to attend such training.
Came the COVID-19 virus crisis. Many maintenance staff may be idle as production is stopped. Many are working from home due to safety measures. At the same time, most industry conferences, in-house training programs and other learning opportunities have been cancelled. Already allocated training budgets become available again, while some municipalities provide financial incentives for online learning.
Solutions exist to make good use of this time and to emerge stronger from the crisis! NOW is the time to take proactive action!
Since 2017, Siveco China has developed an e-learning program, named bluehoney, specifically designed for Chinese maintenance teams:
