The technician in the eco-city: feedback from the 5th Wuhan Sino-French Eco-City Forum on October 26
2018-11-12
On October 26, Siveco China Managing Director Bruno Lhopiteau and VP Paul Wang were invited to attend the 5th Wuhan Sino-French Eco-City Forum.
The forum was hosted by the Wuhan Municipal People's Government, the French Consulate General in Wuhan, the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City Management Committee, and the Caidian District People's Government. The forum gathered together domestic and foreign government representatives, business leaders, and academic experts around the theme of "Green, Wisdom – The Future of Sino-French Eco-City Development".
The Siveco team's program at the event included participation in the VIP banquet, a brief and much-appreciated encounter with the Mayor of Wuhan, a lunch debate with French Embassy and Consulate officials and meetings with municipal utility companies. Siveco China VP Paul Wang spoke during the forum's main session on the topic of "The technician in the eco-city: towards the knowledge economy". The speech received a lot of attention, as it echoed the Mayor's opening statement, putting man at the heart of the eco-city, and focused exclusively on case studies of Chinese municipal utilities.
Paul first used the audience' experience with a technical failure of the hotel elevator earlier in the morning to draw attention on the importance of maintenance management in the Sino-French Eco-City. Under the presentation's ambitious topic, Siveco shared the practical experience of a Sino-French company providing solutions to optimize the lifecycle of Chinese infrastructures for 20 years. The eco-city and its distributed high-tech infrastructures require sophisticated technical management. The ubiquitous new technologies demand new management methods and advanced skills. It is necessary to take these needs into account from the infrastructure design stage and to implement solutions as early as possible. Paul went on the describe the role of the technician in this city of tomorrow, before looking at the economic impact of an optimized life cycle of infrastructure: from Capex as the engine of growth towards the knowledge-economy. A few examples in China were discussed: , , Chongqing Water Yuelai Phase III, Chongqing Shirui Energy… Finally, Paul explained how this new model, designed in China, is already exported on "the Belt and the Road".
Siveco's very practical presentation based on a long Chinese experience was well received and led to many questions during the lunch break.
We thank the Wuhan Sino-French Eco-City Forum, for this very fruitful seminar. We also thank all participants for the lively exchanges. Siveco will continue to share practical insights and viewpoints with other industry players. For more information about Siveco, our services and solutions, please contact .
