Siveco China to deliver CMMS for new Algerian power plant
2014-01-06
Siveco China was selected to deliver its CMMS Coswin for the Ain Arnat power plant currently under construction in Algeria. A South Korean consortium consisting of Daewoo International, Hyundai Engineering and Hyundai Engineering & Construction has won the US$1.06 billion project to build the 3x400MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant. Owned by Algerian state-run power company SPE, the Ain Arnat power plant will start production in 2016.
Siveco China will work alongside the EPC and its DCS supplier to setup and implement the CMMS, including data preparation. Most work until FAT will take place in Korea and China, with final delivery onsite in Algeria with Siveco's local partner.
The deal confirms Siveco China's ability to deliver CMMS for greenfield infrastructure projects all over the world, thanks to the experience acquired in the booming Chinese market and later in Southeast Asia, more particularly with gas turbine power plants. To meet the increasing demand for electricity, the Algerian government has launched a massive investment program, with an additional 8,400MW of capacity to be connected to the grid between 2015 and 2017. Siveco's CMMS Coswin has become the standard CMMS for all future power projects in Algeria. Since many EPC contracts have been awarded to construction companies from Asia, Siveco China has dedicated a team to assist the selected EPCs and their subcontractors with system design, data collection, system configuration all the way to FAT, in Asia, followed by onsite delivery working together with a local partner in Algeria.
