New-generation sludge treatment at China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park selects Siveco

2012-11-30

The state-of-the-art sludge treatment plant of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, has selected Siveco to conduct a maintenance improvement project based on the implementation of a Maintenance Management System incorporating maintenance best practices for the water treatment industry.

The plant, which was put into service at the end of 2010, is operated by , a joint venture 49% owned by Sino French Water and 51% owned by China Singapore Public Utilities, in which SUEZ Environnement has a shareholding of 24.5%. A model of environmental performance, the plant has capacity to process 300 tons of sludge a day, with three drying lines. All types of waste sludge discharged by the park, both industrial and municipal, can be treated. Once dry, the sludge is recycled in the form of fuel for the park's electric power station. The industrial park, which has a surface area of 228 km2 and a population of around 610,000, hosts a broad range of Chinese and international industrial companies. We focus on this high-performance and environmentally compatible treatment plant.

According to Zhang Wen, President of China Suzhou SIP Public Utilities Development Group Company Limited:

"Through the collaboration and by introducing Europe's state-of-the-art environmental experience, we not only safely treat the sludge and save land for disposal, we also facilitate the synergistic operation of the park's sewage treatment, sludge and power plants to maximize the use of resources. This is a great example of how to effectively convert waste into usable resources, achieve circular economy and sustain development."
