Presentation of the 'Results of the "Maintenance in China" survey 2017: does maintenance play a role in the China Dream?' at CCIFC Shanghai (Mar. 14)

2017-03-08
Siveco's General Manager Bruno Lhopiteau will present the "Results of the "Maintenance in China" survey 2017: does maintenance play a role in the China Dream?" at the CCIFC (French Chamber of Commerce in China) Construction & Maintenance Working Group on March 14 in Shanghai.

Results of the "Maintenance in China" survey 2017: does maintenance play a role in the China Dream?

The "Maintenance in China" survey provides a snapshot of the current maintenance management practices of industrial companies in China and of their improvement plans for the near future. With 491 respondents this year, of various national origins (47% Chinese, 34% international, 19% joint ventures), across industries (54% infrastructures and utilities, 33% process manufacturing, 13% discreet manufacturing and others), located all over China, it is by far the most comprehensive survey of this kind.

A benchmarking opportunity for companies operating industrial assets in China, this year's survey also offers interesting insights in the changing role of maintenance, long underestimated, as the country enters a new phase of its industrial development, moving up in the value chain, with increasing automation, robotization and focus on sustainable development, embodied in such concepts as the China Dream and Made in China 2025.

Launched in 2008 and now in its 5th edition, the "Maintenance in China" survey is a joint project between the Sino-European School of Technology of Shanghai University (UTSEUS) and Siveco China, the country's largest maintenance consultancy. The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (CCIFC) was the first international business association to distribute the survey to its members in 2008, followed in later years by other chambers.

During this session of the Construction & Maintenance Working Group, Bruno Lhopiteau, founder of Siveco China, will share the preliminary results of the 2017 survey with members of the group and offers his unique perspective on the topic, having worked with maintenance in China since 1998.
