2013-04-24
On April 17, Siveco's GM Bruno Lhopiteau was invited to speak on the topic of "Improving maintenance in China" at the EU Project Innovation Center in Chengdu. The meeting was organized by the CCIFC (French Chamber of Commerce in China), Chengdu branch, as part of its regular Construction & Maintenance working group. The working group was created by Bruno Lhopiteau in 2005 and has held many sessions all over China.
During the 2-hour meeting, Bruno shared his 15-years experience of maintenance improvement projects in China and covered the following topics:
- Introduction of Siveco's West China business
- Typical lifecycle of an industrial plant in China
- Market evolution and latest trends
- Enforcing best practices: what works, what doesn't
- The use of technology: dos and don'ts
- Case studies – including two West China case studies (Hanas LNG and Lutianhua Chemicals)

The event was attended by both Chinese and expatriate executives from various multinational companies. Questions were very diverse, covering maintenance management itself, as well as commercial issues (how to sell services in China) and intellectual property (how to avoid being copied by would-be competitors). Several companies requested follow-up visits by Siveco teams, which will be conducted in the coming weeks.
